Now that PAX West has been going on, more information about the games there has been coming out, most recently some Gears of War 4 PC gameplay that not only shows us a new level (that may be the full one that we were shown only a part of at E3), but also more Marcus and even a bit more about Sera and the Swarm.
The video starts with the squad, including Marcus, heading towards some kind of old Locust burial ground, likely where many of the dead Locust bodies were put after they all died at the end of Gears of War 3. However, they make an unsettling discovery, that the bodies of the Locust have been infected by the Swarm.
We already knew this, of course, given what Game Informer said in their expose about the game, but we also get to see a lot of lore about Sera, such as a statue on a dam that signifies the four different kinds of energy: water, air, solar, and gas. There’s no Imulsion there, because it was built before the Pendulum Wars, the eighty-year-long war that immediately preceded the Locust War and was fought over the then-miracle energy source known as Imulsion.
Considering the devastation of the Locust War, your squadmate Kat is very surprised and impressed that it survived that long, especially with the hundred years of nonstop war that Sera had been through by the end of the Locust War in Gears of War 3.
After that we get to see more Gears of War 4 PC gameplay as the group fights their way to the dam, through a windflare, and eventually makes it inside…just in time for the tower to collapse.
To see what happens next, we’ll likely have to wait a bit longer for Gears of War 4 to come out on PC (and show us more Gears of War 4 PC gameplay) and Xbox One on October 11.
