Gears of War 4 Horde Mode Gets a Teaser, New Tidbits Shared

The Gears of War 4 Horde Mode has gotten a video teaser from IGN, showing us some of the stuff we can do in the game mode when the game releases in October.

The Gears of War 4 Horde Mode has gotten a video teaser from IGN, showing players how they can set up various defenses to hold off the Swarm in The Coalition’s upcoming third-person shooter game. Gears of War 4 is slated to come out on October 11 of this year on the Xbox One and PC.

Horde Mode first appeared in Gears of War 2, and allowed players to take on wave after wave of Locust forces, doing their best to survive against ever-increasing numbers of enemies. The success of the game launched a number of other imitators in gaming, ranging from Halo’s “Firefight” mode to others like it across other shooter games.

Horde Mode has continued to be a fixture in the other Gears of War games, even getting a reversed variant known as Beast Mode, where you take control of Locusts and murder your way through Stranded, COG Gears, and more.

Gears of War Judgment also had its “Survival” mode, where you defend a structure against Locust attacks, but the Gears of War 4 Horde Mode appears to be a return to form, though it does have some bits from the other variants in its makeup, called “Horde 3.0.”

To start with, players have the ability to carry around a large box with them. From that box they can take a variety of different turrets and other structures to help hold off the Swarm as you fight them. You also have the ability to choose different classes, all of which have differing abilities and skills that progress as you play.

We haven’t really seen much of the Gears of War 4 Horde Mode yet, but since Gears of War 4 is coming out in October we’ll likely be seeing at least some gameplay of it pretty soon, so that The Coalition can show us what we’re in for.
