Playground Games announced yesterday that their upcoming racer had gone gold and now thanks to a twitter user by the name of Jonathan-117, we know that Forza Horizon 3 preload has started on Xbox One. According to Jonathan’s tweet, the Forza Horizon 3 preload is 46.3GB in size. He also mentioned that the preload is available from US region so it is unclear whether people who pre ordered in other regions can download the game or not.

Forza Horizon 3, sequel to 2014’s highly successful Forza Horizon 2, takes players to Australia this time instead of Europe. The game is set to feature all sorts of cars, more than 150 at launch, including offroad vehicles for the rough Australian terrain.
Like all the other upcoming first party exclusives, Forza Horizon 3 is also available on PC through the Play Anywhere program so if anyone pre ordered on Xbox One, they get the PC version for free.
Whether this preload applies to PC version of the game or not remains to be seen but Playground Games did release PC requirements today.
A free demo of the game is rumored to be in the works and is expected to be available on 12th September.
Considering that Ultimate Edition owners (both physical and digital) get early access, it makes sense for Forza Horizon 3 preload to start this early especially since the download size might be too much for a lot of people.
The game will be available to play for these Ultimate Edition owners on 23rd September while those who buy the Standard or Deluxe edition will have to wait until official launch 27th September.
There is no way to upgrade to early access edition if someone purchased Standard or Deluxe. The Ultimate Edition early access also applies to PC owners of the game so their preload will hopefully start soon as well.
