Fans of the Gears Of War series are excited as the franchise is making a come back with Gears Of War 4. While the developers are doing their best for the game to feel like the previous game but also bringing a new experience, also the developers see Gears Of War 4 as a new game.
According to studio head Rod Fergusson, Gears Of War 4 is basically “Gear Of War The Next Generation”, as it is set after 25 years of the events of Gears Of War 3 with new heroes, who are trying to survive the night in the wilds to look for the source of the new threat.
According to narrative producer, Bonnie Jean Mah, Gears Of War 4 is different from previous Gears Of War game, as the game features new characters facing new situation. The heroes have not yet gone through what Marcus Fenix and his friends had faced.
Rod further explained that in the first Gears Of War game players were quickly thrown into fights with Locusts, and it was established that the war has been going on for some time. However, is Gears Of War 4 the developers wanted it to be a mystery. So instead of hitting players with monsters in the first 10 seconds, The Coalition came up with a new type of enemy, they introduced robots.
He further explained that the reason for introducing robots to Gears Of War 4 was that players would not feel bad for them when they are destroyed instead of killing hundreds and thousands of soldiers.
In other news, Gears of War 4’s lead multiplayer designer, Ryan Cleven, has revealed that Gears Of War 4 is balanced for the controller first.
We definitely work from the controller out. We do play [with] mouse and keyboard, but the core of the game is around a controller.
Gears Of War 4 is scheduled to release on October 11, 2016 for PC and Xbox One.
