EA DICE has not abandoned Battlefield 1 as an update is adding a new UI design. Smoother and better Battlefield 4 UI will cost 4GB of internet data.
The update rolled out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It doesn’t change anything in-game such as maps or deployment icons. However, it will allow you to switch between different Battlefield games within Battlefield 4 UI.
The UI is really smooth now and it allows you to shift between Battlefield 1 and Battlefield Hardline. It indicates that Battlefield 1 may have a similar UI.

The new update is currently in development for PC as well. More details on that will be shared soon.
On a related note, EA DICE is hosting Battlefield 1 open beta. The multiplayer action starts on August 31 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Battlefield 1 insiders will get early access on consoles and PC. If you have signed up for Battlefield insider program before August 21, you can start playing the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC on August 30th.
The beta client size is apparently 6.2GB.
The client is already listed on Xbox Store but can not be downloaded for the time being. Battlefield 1 is releasing on consoles and PC on October 21, just a week ahead of Titanfall 2, another major EA shooter.
