Firaxis Studios, the current makers of the Civilization series, have announced that a Civilization 6 Anniversary Edition will be releasing along with the vanilla Civilization 6 game. You’ll have to pay $90 if you want to get it, but it includes pre-order DLC, special commemorative coins, an art book, and more bonus content from the Digital Deluxe Edition.
All of the swag in the Civilization 6 Anniversary Edition will be coming in a sweet box too, which will be holding everything that you’ll be getting, if you have the money to shell out for the game.
The Digital Deluxe Edition, the next step up on the tier from the regular Civilization 6 game, includes the 25th Anniversary Soundtrack, and access to all four of the game’s post-launch DLC packs that add new maps, new scenarios, civilizations, and leaders for a discount.
These include various civilizations like the Aztecs (who are normally a pre-order bonus if you’ve only got the regular version of the game), but the digital deluxe edition will already be saving you a lot of money in the future, since you can get them all at a discount.
Everything available in the Civilization 6 Anniversary Edition may just be good for bragging rights or to show your fellow Civilization fans if you want, but really it’s likely that more and more people will end up just buying it for the art book and DLC, rather than the commemorative coins.
According to the game’s Steam page, the art book is called “Civilization Through the Years”, and will be taking you on a magical journey through the entirety of the Civilization series, which includes the very first few Civilization games including the first, which came out in 1991.
If you’re not wanting to get the Civilization 6 anniversary edition but really want the pre-order DLC, don’t worry. 90 days after the game releases, you’ll be able to buy the Aztec civilization for yourself. Civilization 6 releases on October 21.
