The 2016 League of Legends World Championship is coming up quickly, and Riot Games is just as excited as we are. The developer of League of Legends, which has rapidly become one of the most popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games on the market, has also shown off a number of things we can expect around that time.
To start off with, we have the skins. The Championship celebration is a very important time for Riot, and so many champions are now getting League of Legends World Championship skins to celebrate the occasion, including a new character getting the skins: the ninja Zed.
Zed will be the last member of a well-composed League of Legends World Championship team that Riot has been making ever since the game launched in 2012. Riven, the first member of Riot’s Championship team, is also getting a re-release, which includes updates to her design and a “vintage” version for other players.
Other champions that get their own championship skins include Thresh, Shyvana, and Kalista. In addition to Championship skins, however, many heroes will also get temporary emotes that they can be used in-game, along with temporary summoner icons.
That’s not all. With the League of Legends World Championship coming, you can also upgrade your emote and your summoner icons across three tiers to show your support for your favorite team, and you’ll also be seeing new textures to help make sure that you know Worlds is going on in every game.
All of these new Championship cosmetics are currently in the game’s Public Beta Environment until Riot feels that they’re ready to come out, but they’ll likely be available for you to get around the time that the World Championship starts up on September 29. The Championship will make its way through multiple American cities, starting in San Francisco and ending in Los Angeles.
