A recent report has brought more cancelled Star Wars Games to surface – including a Star Wars game revolving around Chewbacca and another one set in the Dark Side of the Force.
According to the report, LucasArts cancelled two Star Wars games after not being able to decide which one to publish.
Cancelled Star Wars Games Appear Online
One of these games was proposed by developer Factor 5 which was supposed to be set in the Dark Side of the Force and called Dark Squadron. On the other side, LucasArts’ internal developer proposed a Star Wars game based on Chewbacca and his story as a bounty hunter.
LucasArts eventually decided upon the game revolving around Chewbacca, but George Lucas did not like the idea of a Star Wars game based on Chewbacca’s story. The team later worked and launched Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Dark Squadron, on the other hand, was teased in Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader. This game had a couple of bonus levels which allowed players to prevent Luke Skywalker from blowing up the Death Star and teased what the game could have been.
While the game never came out to be, Factor 5 proposed Rogue Squadron Collection Remastered Version for Xbox which was cancelled back in 2004. The studio tried the same remaster for Nintendo Wii, but the company filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and even the Whiteharvest Studio that came after it and tried to complete the project could not do it because of a lawsuit that was settled in 2015.
