Polyphony Digital has announced that its Gran Turismo 6 – released back in 2013 for Playstation 3 – has sold over 5 million copies worldwide.
The franchise’s latest sales figures – updated on Jun. 30, 2016 – confirm that Gran Turismo franchise, from its inception back in 1997, has sold over 76.8 million copies around the world.
Gran Turismo 6 Sales Figures
Last time we heard from Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo stood at about 4.7 million with the entire franchise at about 76.5 million copies. The list provided below is from last year, but goes out to show that Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec and Gran Turismo 5 added the most to the franchise’s sales figures:

- Gran Turismo 6 ––– 4,710,000
Currently, Polyphony Digital is working on Gran Turismo Sport which will support Playstation VR. Targeting 1080p and 60 frames per second; fans who are looking for a hardcore racing simulation experience are in for a disappointment, as noted by Polyphony Digital.
Australian fans, however, who wish to try out the game before deciding to buy it or not will be able to get their hands on a playable demo which is scheduled to release later this month.
Gran Turismo Sport is scheduled to release in November 2016 exclusively for Playstation 4. We will learn more at Sony’s Playstation Experience event scheduled to happen in September.
