During an event at the UDX Theater in Tokyo, Sega has revealed Yakuza 6 release date. The Yakuza 6 release date announcement was made by Producer Toshihiro Nagoshi alongside the full title of the game.
The game is set to launch in Japan on 8th December, exclusively for PS4. Fully known as Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and is supposedly the final chapter for the series’ main character Kazuma Kiryu. There is no word on the Western release for the game but hopefully that date comes soon too.
Alongside the release date and full title of the game, Sega also presented a new trailer for the game as well as some screenshots of the game and some of its characters including Takumi Someya, Yuta Usami and Toru Hirose.
Yakuza 6 was originally announced back in September 2015 during the Tokyo Game Show as part of Sony’s conference and as such was revealed to be exclusive to PS4. The western release is expected to be some time in 2017 while originally the game was announced to launch in Japan during “Autumn 2016”.
The game will take place in Kamurocho, Tokyo and Jingacho, Onomichi which is part of Hiroshima prefecture. The screenshots show the night life of Tokyo in all its vibrancy as well as areas of Jingacho.
Not a whole lot is known about the game yet besides that the usual arcade style gameplay mixed with the combat that is now a trademark of the franchise will be returning.
