Nintendo Considering Linking Pokemon Go and Pokemon Sun and Moon

In a recent interview, Pokemon Sun and Moon producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori shed some light on possible linkage with Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go has already become a phenomenon in regions it has released in and with Pokemon Sun and Moon ready to launch soon, The Pokemon Company is all in to raise the bar.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Pokemon Sun and Moon producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori shared some details regarding the upcoming game and a potential link between Pokemon Go and Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Pokemon Sun and Moon Meets Pokemon Go

According to Masuda, both games are very different in their approach and even with identical Pokemon species in both the games, the catch rates and methods are worlds apart.

He continued that if they were to link both the games, they must do it in such a way which will maintain the balance of both of them and ensure that they do not end up making both of them boring.

[Masuda, Ohmori] are also considering linkage with the smartphone app Pokemon Go which came out earlier this month. However, Masuda said that Pokemon Go is a game about catching Pokemon by walking all around the world. And even with the same Pokemon species, they have different appearance methods and catch rates in Sun/Moon. If they are to link the two games, they have to do it in a way that doesn’t break the balance of either game and even end up making both games boring. They still need to find an interesting idea that could make both games more interesting.

Obviously, Nintendo must come up with something interesting if it were to link both the games, but we can be sure that the possibility is there!

Pokemon Sun and Moon is scheduled to release exclusively on Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18, 2016.
