Injustice 2 will release on smartphones and tablets in addition to consoles according to Ed Boon.
So far the studio is focusing on only making the game for the Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles, but once those are out and released work will start on smartphones and tablets and maybe even PC. The first Injustice game also reached all of these platforms at some point during its run, and it seems this Injustice game will be no exception.
Boon, however, did not confirm if Injustice 2 will release on the Nintendo NX or not. The first game did release on the Wii or Wii U after all, and Nintendo already has its own fighting game in the form of Super Smash Bros, and with the Nintendo games normally being seen as a more kid-friendly console Nintendo may not think the game is right for Nintendo.
However, considering the Nintendo NX may be allowing ports to come to the console we might get Injustice 2. We’ll have to wait and see, however, especially since the Nintendo NX isn’t due to release until around March of next year and whenever Injustice 2 comes out.
Considering how much better NetherRealm’s previous fighting game Mortal Kombat X was received (both in terms of gameplay and story), it’s likely that when they release the game it will be a lot better than the previous Injustice, which got criticism for a lackluster story mode.
Injustice 2 will release sometime in 2017 and has already had a number of trailers released for it, so until then all we can do is wait and see how the game ends up looking, and if it’s anything like what the trailers promise, it may be the pick-me-up that superhero video games need.
