CD Projekt Red Also Wants Cross Network Play Approval For Gwent, Will Sony Reply?
Following the case of Rocket League waiting for Sony’s approval for launching cross network play functionality to be added to game, CD Projekt Red has also come forward with a similar idea. However, you must be wondering that The Witcher 3 is a single-player only game.
Well to clear the confusion, CD Projekt Red is working on Gwent: The Witcher Card Game which was announced at E3 2016. Being a card game, it will take advantage of having players from all over the world.
Speaking with IGN CEO of CD Projekt Red, Marcin Iwinski, said that they are waiting for Rocket League cross network play functionality to pave the way for other games to feature it.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for Rocket League paving the way,” CEO Marcin Iwinski told IGN. “Our upcoming Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will launch in closed beta for PC and Xbox One later this year, and Microsoft already confirmed Gwent’s cross-play feature not only between Xbox One and PC, but also other consoles if they allow it.
He further said that they are prepared for adding PlayStation 4 and would love to add the platform to the cross network play functionality.
We also do have a technical solution in place for PS4 and would love to add Sony’s platform to cross-play at the start of open beta. All we need is a green light from Sony.
While developers are trying to convince Sony to greenlit cross network play functionality for their games between Xbox One and PlaySatation 4, it seems that in the future we will see games featuring it.
On the other hand Microsoft seems to be cool with the idea of the cross network play, as many of its games like Forza Horizon 3, Gears Of War 4, Scalebound and more will feature cross network play between PC and Xbox One upon launch.
Do you think Sony is being a little to conservative over all this cross netwok play idea? Will you play Rocket League and Gwent with players on other platforms? Let us know in the comments.
