Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus has been chosen as the FIFA 17 cover star after a poll held by EA Sports asking what European soccer star that FIFA players would want on the cover of the newest entry into EA Sports’s famous soccer series.
In the poll for the FIFA 17 cover star, Reus beat out James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, Anthony Martial from Manchester United, and Eden Hazard from Chelsea. Regardless of their losing, all of the other players (along with Reus himself) are going to be featured on their teams in the actual game. Due to the game also being under the Frostbite engine, you’ll be able to pick them out clearly too.
Durning his time with Dortmund, Reus has made 29 different appearances on the pitch ever since he was traded to Borussia Dortmund from competing football club Borussia Monchengladbach, back in 2012. This season Reus will be serving as captain of Dortmund’s team.
Borussia Dortmund will be in the game, alongside other well-known clubs like Real Madrid, all 26 teams of the Barclay Premiere League, and more. As you go through the FIFA 17 story mode The Journey, you’ll have an opportunity to play for at least one of those clubs, as well.
As FIFA 17 cover star, Reus has said that he’s humbled and honored to have been chosen by the fans. Let’s just hope that there isn’t any sort of Madden Curse among FIFA players; considering he’s going to be captain of his team this season it would be a shame if he immediately had a season-ending injury at some point and never really got to show us what he could do.
FIFA 17 will be releasing on September 27 in North America, and will be releasing two days later on September 29 in the rest of the world. The game will be releasing on those days on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
