If you were one of the players of Ark: Survival Evolved looking forward to the Ark: Survival of the Fittest add-on, you’re likely going to be disappointed. The add-on, which was supposed to be releasing a beta tomorrow, July 19, has instead been delayed until the holiday period of this year. Studio Wildcard says the reason behind the delay was to prepare Survival Evolved for a Playstation 4 beta release.
Ark: Survival Evolved has been in various stages of alpha ever since the game launched. While it’s been an immensely popular multiplayer game (with multiple streaming groups taking part in it as they build civilizations and tribes) it’s still had a lot of bugs to work out. Studio Wildcard’s been hard at work getting rid of those bugs, so hopefully Ark will be stable on the Playstation 4.
Ark: Survival of the Fittest is supposed to be a Multiplayer Online Survival Arena where players would make their own tools and try to survive until they were the last one standing, as a more competitive multiplayer component compared to the sandbox that the original game is.
The add-on is even supposed to go to eSports.
Ark: Survival Evolved will be coming to the Playstation 4 at some point later this year. In the meantime numerous updates will be coming out as the game comes closer to launch, likely stabilizing its net code, adding in more dinosaurs, tools, and technology tiers, and other things.
The game will also be launching with Playstation VR support so that you can better experience your struggles for survival.
In addition to the delay of Ark: Survival of the Fittest, the Playstation 4 version of Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit has also been delayed after it was supposed to come out today.
Dev says they’ll be putting out a new release date soon but in the meantime we can probably have more fun (and more narrative cohesion) playing Ark than playing any game by David Cage.
