Back in the last week of June, a Halo 5 free promo was started by 343 Industries to mark the release of Halo 5 Warzone Firefight update. Being the biggest update to the game so far, and the longest free play period, this hyped up things once more, but that’s nothing new, the developers say.
If you thought that 343 Industries was giving you a free week to play Halo 5 Guardians because the player base was shrinking to dangerous levels, you are wrong.
Brav, the community manager for the Halo series has recently revealed that the number of monthly active players on the game, even before the Halo 5 free promo started, was larger than the number of highest monthly active players that Halo 3 had ever achieved!
Basically, Halo 5 Guardians is breaking the franchise’s own records regularly. The only problem is, that Brav did not back his statement with a figure:
You’d be very pleasantly surprised with not only the number of players who jumped on during the free play period (holy moly lots! by golly it worked!), but also the amount of Halo 5 players each day and month – this isn’t something we’ve talked about yet, but I am rather happy to share that even before the free play period, Halo 5 has had the highest monthly active players for a Halo title since Halo 3.
That is not all, apart from all the traction created by the Halo 5 free promo the game is continuously seeing an increase in the number of players on a month by month basis.
For instance, the monthly active players for June were “once again higher than the previous month.”
As far as specific numbers are concerned, it appears that Brav will need approval from 343 Industries before he can divulge them to the community, although we would love to see how much of an increase Halo 5 Guardians has seen specifically.
