Earlier this month, Sony Interactive Entertainment had started demoing the PlayStation VR at a number of retailing outlets across the North American region. This was followed by the PlayStation VR preorders going live.
As you would expect (or not) the preorders of the head mounted device (HMD) were taken up by the thousands and as a result it only took a few minutes to get them sold out.
The PlayStation VR preorders were originally opened on March 22, but they did not last too long. The core Launch Bundle of the PSVR got sold like it was being sent out for free although it has a pretty good list of contents:
- All contents of the PS VR core bundle:
- PS VR headset
- PS VR cables
- Stereo Headphones
- PlayStation VR Demo Disc
- PlayStation Camera
- 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers
- PlayStation VR Worlds (disc)
Anyhow, the March launch of preorders was followed by restocks that were put up for preorder on GameStop yesterday i..e June 30, 2016. However it only took minutes for them to go out of stock again.
This might have left you stranded as to what is going to happen now. Will Sony bring back PlayStation VR preorders or will you have to wait for the launch now?
We have got the answer. This was not it, Sony is going to give you more chances of pre-purchasing the HMD, and this has been confirmed by the President of Worldwide Studios Sony Interactive Entertainment, Shuhei Yoshida himself. Here’s what Yoshida-san has confirmed through his official Twitter profile:
@dverkoeyen you'll have more chances to preorder, do not worry

For those of you who are yet to make their PlayStation VR preorders, the device is going to be launched officially on October 13, 2016.
