Injustice 2 was unveiled at E3, promising a return from the DC Comics fighting game, but that’s not all; Injustice 2 DLC will also be coming after release, giving us tournament events and new fighters as the game’s shelf life goes on. All of this has been revealed by Ed Boon, the creative director of NetherRealm Studios.
The first Injustice game already had a great deal of characters, many of them being added via DLC much like here, and the Injustice 2 DLC will be no different. The first Injustice game’s downloadable heroes were a mix of heroes and villains, such as Batgirl, General Zod, the Martian Manhunter, and Lobo. It also got a somewhat unique character, everyone’s favorite undead ninja Scorpion.
While for now we don’t have any idea of what the Injustice 2 DLC will have in the way of new characters, there are a ton of different important DC superheroes to choose from, and that’s not even counting the tournaments and other events that will be coming out as well.
All of these DLC plans will probably help make Injustice 2 a very well-stocked fighting game, especially if NetherRealm Studios starts taking the lessons it learned from Mortal Kombat X to heart. While that game didn’t have any tournaments, it did get a lot of DLC characters, ranging from other Mortal Kombat characters like Tanya and Tremor, to other pieces of gory media like the Xenomorph, the Predator, and Jason Voorhees.
Whether one of the Injustice 2 DLC characters ends up being another Mortal Kombat character remains a mystery, however. Considering the good reception of the DLC characters in Mortal Kombat X, NetherRealm Studios may end up putting in more characters from other franchises in.
Hopefully with the great reception that MKX got, hopefully Injustice 2 will be just as good of a game when it releases.
