Nintendo NX Will Attract More Exposure for Its IPs

Nintendo’s 76th Annual Shareholder Meeting was held in Japan and at the meeting, Nintendo made clear that it will heavily focus on making sure their IPs are exposed to a bigger audience.

Compared to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Nintendo’s Wii U had a niche audience. The console failed to appeal to even some of the most hardcore fans which made them shift to other options. However, with the Nintendo NX the company will try to attract as big of a part of the community as possible with their IPs.

However, first party alone won’t do much good.

In order to attract a larger audience, Nintendo will need to analyze their mistakes from the Wii U. The console was underpowered and super difficult to develop for. Nintendo couldn’t sell enough consoles which caused major third party publishers like Ubisoft, EA, Activision etc. to not release its major IPs on Wii U. Nintendo has some of the most popular IPs but it can not survive without diversifying its catalog.

Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, aren’t enough, the company needs ¬†titles like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, indie games, Assassin’s Creed, Star Wars etc. if it wishes to attract a larger audience.

NX is a mystery and whatever we know about it is from unofficial sources. We were expecting to see it at E3 2016 but creators delayed its reveal. Presumably, a NX reveal is set for late 2016.

Its specs and features aren’t known but the good news is that devs seem to be excited for its development. This indicates that NX might have better developer support compared to Wii U.

The Japanese giant recently told us why Nintendo NX is being kept under wraps and the reason may surprise you. Nintendo is very optimistic about the new console but only time will tell how things pan out.
