CD Projekt Red, the developers of the recently-concluded Witcher series, were able to stick themselves somewhere into the wilderness of Witcher 3 Blood and Wine. With the series now over (except for the studio’s upcoming Gwent online card game), CD Projekt Red decided to give the series that put them on the map one last tribute.
The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine DLC released on the last day of May, and would be the final DLC put out for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. The DLC takes Geralt of Rivia, our protagonist, to the Nilfgaardian duchy of Toussaint, where he comes across a sinister conspiracy under all of the knightly chivalry and wine.
The DLC, in addition to a massive new area to explore, also gives Geralt a lot of new equipment and a villa for him to live in, which seems to be symbolically telling Geralt that it’s time for him to sit down and relax for once.
CD Projekt Red took it upon themselves to stick in a little tribute to the company into the DLC, in an isolated area of the game’s map. YouTuber Pippo311lp was able to find this shout-out through making use of a freecam mod in the game and then teleporting Geralt up onto a mountain. Normally this area would be inaccessible.
Pippo then walked around on the top of the mountain until he came to an easel, where the staff of CD Projekt Red had left a picture in tribute.
The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine will be the last piece of Witcher content coming out besides the upcoming Gwent game that CD Projekt Red will be working on, as now that the series if over they will be moving on to Cyberpunk 2077, a science-fiction RPG game.
