Tekken 7 cross platform play might make history as it could be the very first game to allow this features across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. According to director Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken 7 cross play for all platforms is not that difficult to do and they are looking into it as we speak.
Tekken 7 console version was showed at E3 2016 and that’s where Namco announced Xbox One and PC versions. This is the first Tekken game to release on PC so it is already making history. However, being playable across all platforms, everyone can compete with each other is a very promising prospect.
Sony, Microsoft and Steam are all already onboard with cross platform play so restrictions from the publishers won’t be an issue in cross platform implementation.
The great news is that devs don’t find it hard to achieve so we may see it happen soon after the release of the game. The new Tekken game will release in early 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Head over here to see our in-depth preview on Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.
Tekken 7 is developed on the might Unreal Engine 4 from Epic Games. The engine is behind the beautiful cut-scenes, seamless cinematics, and smooth animations of Tekken 7.
Tekken 7 will be the last game to be centered around the Mishima clan. Jin, Kazuya and Heihachi’s story will end with Tekken 7 but it is safe to say that Tekken 7 would be around for a while before we get to see the next game. Tekken Tag is also a popular spin-off of the original game so expect Tekken Tag Tournament 3 next.
