Rumor: Sony Will Reveal PlayStation 4 Neo Very Soon

PlayStation 4 Neo is Sony's new 4K gaming system and rumor has it that Sony will show the new machine very soon at its own event.

According to multiple sources close to the project, Sony is going to reveal the new PlayStation 4 Neo very soon. Sony will once again host PlayStation Experience this year, the event will give us a look at the new console from the Japanese hardware giant.

Sony recently said that it isn’t sure about being at GamesCom this year, many companies went for their own events and skipped E3 so following the ongoing trend it looks like Sony might favor PlayStation Experience over GameCom to show its latest titles and PlayStation 4 Neo.

PlayStation 4 Neo was expected at E3 but shortly before the event Sony announced that the console won’t be shown in LA. Sony has a strong presence in Europe so this year it is considering hosting PlayStation Experience in Europe. The plan might be to show PlayStation 4 Neo outside of the United States first.

Neo is Sony’s machine that can do 4K gaming along with support for other unannounced features. It will go up againts Microsoft’s Project Scorpio, another console that is targeting 4K gaming, however, it will also be able to provide stable 1080p/60FPS gaming; something Xbox One itself fails to do majority of the time.

There are many concerns over the new consoles and one of them is the baseline models possibly being ignored. Many think PS4 Neo might shorten the life cycle of PlayStation 4 but Sony has assured us that won’t be the case. We’ll see how true its statement turns out to be when the new console releases.

Speaking of release, Sony might want to release its new console ahead of Project Scorpio. If that is the case, we are looking at a release window of Early to Mid 2017.
