Mass Effect Andromeda’s E3 press showing was a little disappointing. It has been a long time since the game was first announced and at this E3 we were hoping to see extended gameplay footage.
What we got was bits and pieces of Andromeda mixed with massive chunks of behind the scenes developer footage, which pretty much killed the hype. The game is less than a year away but still there is not a single video that shows proper gameplay elements of the new Mass Effect.
What is going on?
EA provided a vague and non-answer statement to GameSpot in an interview:
Well, every time we do one of these things we make a bunch of choices about how we’re going to fit all of this in, so we definitely made a choice to show more of the characters. A lot of what we did here was meant to complement the previous trailers as well.
EA has this amazing line of game releases coming up. We come later, so we have more time to show great gameplay
Whatever that means.
The good news is that whatever pieces we did see were from in-game, no CGI was used to create the footage; which means Mass Effect Andromeda is a spectacular looking game.
Even though we would love to see more of it, it is comforting to know that the wait would be worth it. This year’s second biggest gaming event is being held in Germany, GamesCom is coming in August. We may see extended Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay at GamesCom.
Andromeda itself will ship early next year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Do you think EA should have shown more of Mass Effect Andromeda at E3 2016?
