The hype train must running wild right now because Hideki Kamiya, the force behind Bayonetta and Okami has not only hinted at Bayonetta 3 but also about Okami 2!
Platinum Games co-founder Hideki Kamiya, the veteran game developer was recently interviewed alongside creative producer Jean Pierre Kellam during their trip to Los Angeles for E3 2016 where Bayonetta was discussed.
Kamiya dropped a bomb on the press while randomly talking about the series and how the protagonist’s hair should look like. The whole conversation is epic, here a chunk:
Interviewer: I preferred Bayonetta’s first haircut.
Kamiya: Then we will take that into account when we design her haircut when we start doing 3, if we ever make 3.
Interviewer: Wha… what?! You can’t tease me like that! Are you thinking of doing 3?
Kamiya: Of course we want to make 3.
So yes, they are definitely making Bayonetta 3. What of Okami 2, you might ask. Well, in the duscussion that followed, Kamiya did it again and while stating that they had not talked to any publishers about the next bayonetta game yet, he said he has the ideas in his head, alongside plans for Okami 2:
No [we haven’t talked to publishers yet], but I’ve spent a lot of time thinking in my head what that game would be. I’ve got ideas in my head for Okami 2 as well.
Upon being asked why exactly he was teasing the press about the two projects so unexpectedly, he responded with another quirky hint at how big we should expect both the projects to be, by saying “We’ve got other Scalebounds in our heads too.”
Of course Scalebound has made a solid mark on the Xbox community as well as people from other platforms, and if Kamiya really pulls it off, and plans to repeat that with Bayonetta 3 and Okami 2, we in for one hell of a party!
