Princess Diana of Themiscyra, otherwise known as Wonder Woman, will be making a return to Injustice 2 after playing a more minor role in the first game, as DC Comics announced earlier today.
This is only the latest bit of DC-related media that Wonder Woman will be put in in recent memory, which fits, since it’s her 75th anniversary of being a DC Comics superhero.
The Injustice 2 announcement has come after a flurry of others in the past few months, such as Wonder Woman getting her own movie after appearing in the Batman vs Superman film, or getting a new logo shortly after.
The fact that Wonder Woman is going to be in Injustice 2 isn’t really a big deal; she is, after all, one of the very first DC superheros, and one of the normal “Justice League” team that normally appears regularly in the comics alongside Green Lantern, the Martian Manhunter, the Flash, Batman, and Superman.
As an Amazonian with enough strength to most likely give Superman a good fight, Wonder Woman deserves to still be in the series.
A new trailer for Injustice 2 also showed us a large number of other new heroes and villains that would be appearing in the upcoming game, including Supergirl, the Red Lantern Atrocitus, Gorilla Grod, and Aquaman, though we’ve still got no idea of what the plot for the game will be about.
It will most likely involve the alternate universe Superman still being alive (since the last game ended with something of a cliffhanger when his eyes opened) but other than that, we’ve got no idea.
Either way hopefully with the success of Mortal Kombat X and its praised story mode, Injustice 2 will follow the recommended path of a sequel and be even better than the original, with Wonder Woman portrayed in a manner fitting how badass she is.
