The biggest highlight of Nintendo’s E3 2016 livestream was easily The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
During the livestream, Nintendo showcased quite an extensive footage of the game, detailing some of the key elements and mechanics. In addition to these gameplay details, Nintendo also showed the entire map The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
After the game’s map was unveiled, Eggplante did extensive calculations and came to the conclusion that the map size of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is almost 360 square kilometers – 140 square miles.
For the sake of comparison, the map size for Nintendo’s Xenoblade Chronicles X is 154.44 square miles. By this calculation, it is safe to say that map size of The Legend of Zelda for Nintendo NX and Nintendo Wii U is will be a tad smaller than Xenoblade Chronicles X which is an immensely huge game.
However, no matter how huge the game will be, the game’s producer Eiji Anouma has already confirmed that the game will cater to speedrunner by allowing them to reach the game’s final boss without solving any puzzle or participating in quests related to the game’s main campaign. In addition to this, soon after the E3 livestream ended, the company announced new Amiibo figures for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which confirms that the game will receive Amiibo treatment.
The game does not have a solid release date as of now, but you can expect to get your hands on it for Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo NX sometime next year in 2017.
