One of the games that Microsoft brought to its E3 2016 media briefing was the upcoming Halo Wars 2 being developed by 343 Industries and Creative Assembly.
As reported earlier this week, Microsoft confirmed that Halo Wars 2 Open Beta is now available for all Xbox One players. The 8-day long open beta for the game will end on Jun. 20, 2016 and is a 13 GB download in total. While I’m slightly let down due to unavailability of a PC beta, the ability to play the beta on Xbox One with upto 6 players is pretty exciting.
Going in line with a previous rumor that Halo Wars 2 is set during the events of Xbox One exclusive Halo 5: Guardians, the new E3 2016 gameplay trailer that we saw shows humans waging a war against ‘The Banished’ – a new race of aliens led against humans by a brutal general:
After decades adrift and declared “lost with all hands,” the brave crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire are mysteriously awoken above an ancient Forerunner haven known as the Ark. In Halo Wars 2, Captain Cutter and his crew will face one of humanity’s most formidable threats yet: The Banished – a fierce and powerful Brute faction led by a cunning and lethal warrior known as Atriox.
In addition to this 343 Industries and Creative Assembly also announced the finalized release date of the long-awaited RTS game. Fans of Halo Wars 2 will be able to get their hands on the game next year on Feb. 21, 2017 for both Xbox One and Microsoft Windows 10 PCs.
