Total War Warhammer Greenskins Guide

Our Total War Warhammer Greenskins Guide details everything that you need to know about how to play as Greenskins in the game.

Legendary Lords

Grimgor Ironhide
You need to throw all your points into the Blade Master to make the dude unstoppable. Try to build him sheer melee damage and defense and you will cut through everyone in your way. In the early game, enemies will not be able to deal with you, even with giants.

Azhag the Slaughterer
During the first playthrough, try to avoid getting Azhag the Slaughterer since magic is highly situational and Grimgor becomes far stronger in late game than Azhag the Slaughterer.

Raiding – How Important It Is

You not only get a steady stream of income, but also prevent fightiness deterioration. This will basically allow you to prevent your Greenskins from turning onto each other – essentially beating one another up. Raiding basically serves as a counter-measure to that you get extra money in the process.

Furthermore, once you maximize your fightiness, you get a Waaagh! stack. You can use it in order to harass a neighboring target. It is a good idea to pick fights with neighboring tribes to keep the Waaagh! stacks going.

Preventing Corruption and Getting Money

There is not really a need of continuously expanding. You need to try and do that in province’s capital only and build a Boss Tent as early in the game as possible. This will basically prevent deterioration of public order and prevent corruption later down the road.

Moreover, if you gain access to holds that have access to gems and gold, you should immediately try and build mines in order to benefit from them. Lastly, also try and get Piles of Shiny Stuff in order to get some extra income.

Leadership – Does It Really Matter

The first thing that you need to know right off the bat is that Orcs have more morale than Goblins. They are unable to hold line effectively and will break often. However, they are able to get reunited and back into the battle more than anyone else.

Leadership boosting things rarely come into play in this scenario. This is basically something that you need to capitalize on as the game progresses. This will become even less appealing once you start replacing standard Orcs with Black Orcs.

Key Units

This section of the guide details some of the key/notable units at your disposal in Greenskins Faction:

Arachnarok Spider
When we talk about notable/key units, the first unit that comes to mind is Arachnarok Spider. This unit is basically a massively armored spider that has increased movement speed, allowing it to move through rough terrain with rather ease and get in close to enemies in order to deal poison damage.

Doom Diver Catapult
Doom Diver Catapult is a siege unit at Greenskins’ disposal. The thing can be fired from a great distance and is ideal for dishing out high amount of area-of-effect damage.

Giant
Last but not the least, this behemoth monster – when called upon the battlefield – can easily instill fear and terror in the opposing army.

Playing as Greenskins – General Tips and Strategies

When playing with Greenskins, do bear in mind that this faction requires constant aggression and is not easy to pick up and play. During the course of the game, you will need to carefully analyze your situation of when to initiate battle and when to replenish your troops. In addition to this, there do not possess a well-managed economy.

Coming to the faction’s primary enemies, it includes The Empire and Dwarves. During the start of the campaign, head west where you will be able to push down Eastern border without worrying about an attack from any side. Furthermore, both The Empire and Dwarves have ripe cities for conquer. This will allow you to start your journey stronger than anyone would expect.

All in all, the faction is ideal for players who constantly like to be in the battle and prefer to micro-manage things during the heat of a battle.
