Overwatch Loot Boxes were confirmed as many as four months ago when game director Jeff Kaplan had mentioned how they will be a key element for the loot system while also confirming that they will be purchasable. But there are multiple types of items, so what of the Overwatch Loot Box drop rates?
Of course the calculations on how frequently you can get a common, rare, epic and legendary drop vary, and all we have got are manual calculations on them.
Overwatch Loot Box Drop Rates Analyzed for Legendary, Epic, Rare and Common Items
We have shared with you a table below that has been created by a Redditor named Ourobouros. The statistics have been calculated using a sample size of 1028 boxes that were opened by various YouTubers in videos uploaded to their channels.
The results show that as many as 58.66% of all drops had common items while 31.69% were rare, 7.22% were epic and 2.43% were legendary.
Similarly, the overall drop rate for common items was 97.08%, for common ones it was 78.22%, for epic 25.91% and finally only 9.38% for legendary. Check out the table below for the breakdown.
If the two percentages are confusing you, let us clear it up. The total percentage is based on item count since each Loot Box drops four items. These can vary because although at least one rare or better item is guaranteed in each Loot Box, the other three could turn out to be common items.
Overwatch Loot Box drop rates have always been important for the game and we knew it since the game’s open beta where 87,103,442 loot boxes were opened.
Users can also purchase Loot Boxes for prices ranging between $2 and $40. Here are the different loot box bundles that are available:
- 2 Loot Boxes – $1.99
- 5 Loot Boxes – $4.99
- 11 Loot Boxes – $9.99
- 24 Loot Boxes – $19.99
- 50 Loot Boxes – $39.99
