Overwatch Animated Short Hero

Overwatch Soldier 76 guide makes it easier for you to understand all the mechanics involved when it comes to playing this hero for any FPS fan. Soldier: 76 is capable of running around the arena and dealing damage using his Pulse Rifle.

He is not only able to provide support to his team using Biotic Field, but also dish out high damage using his Pulse Rifle and Helix Rockets. He also has a sprint ability that can be used to flank enemies though it is not potent as Tracer or Genji.

Overwatch Soldier 76 Guide

His Ultimate Ability is called Tactical Visor which is sort of an aimbot that automatically targets nearby enemies and dish out high damage. He is certainly one of the best heroes that newcomers should be playing with in the beginning.

His real name is Jack Morrison, he is primarily an offense-based hero, but can also be used defensively. He has a total of 200 base hit points and is one of the easiest heroes to learn in the game.

Soldier 76 Strengths and Weaknesses

This hero shines at most ranges, but begins to fall behind at extremely longer ones. He has a healing ability which provides sustain to both him and nearby allies.

His sprint ability allows him to get into different positions quickly and even avoid fights if need be. And his ultimate ability can insta-kill enemies. As for weaknesses, Tactical Visor has a distinct audio clue which makes it relatively easier to avoid.

Soldier 76 Abilities and Ability Tips

This section of the guide provides an overview of all the abilities and ultimate ability at Soldier: 76’s disposal and how to effectively use these abilities in order to have more successful games.

Heavy Pulse Rifle
Soldier: 76’s rifle remains particularly steady while unloading fully-automatic pulse fire.

Helix Rockets
Tiny rockets spiral out of Soldier: 76’s Pulse Rifle in a single burst. The rockets’ explosion damages enemies in a small radius.

Whether he needs to evade a firefight or get back into one, Soldier: 76 can rush ahead in a burst of speed. His sprint ends if he takes an action other than charging forward.

Biotic Field
Soldier: 76 plants a biotic emitter on the ground. Its energy projection restores health to 76 and any of his squad mates within the field.

Tactical Visor
Soldier: 76’s pinpoint targeting visor ‘locks’ his aim on the threat closest to his crosshairs. If an enemy leaves his line of sight, Soldier: 76 can quickly switch to another target.

Do note that you will not be able to use any abilities while sprinting and will only be able to jump. As for Pulse Rifle, try firing it in small burst – especially at long range – in order to land your shots more precisely.

Helix Rockets deal a whole lot of damage and also deal splash damage too. You cannot only use it to quickly eliminate heroes with large HP pools, but also crowd control and in 1-on-1 situations. When putting heals, it is a good idea to learn whether an ally actually needs healing or not.

While Biotic Field is not nearly as effective as Mercy, knowing where to put it and when to put will help your team by a huge margin. Ideally, you should place it around corners where your team is pushing forward.

Coming to Tactical Visor, you should not just begin shooting at the targets randomly, but choose your targets intelligently. If you decide to aim for a hero who has less than 300 HP, you will get yourself a guaranteed elimination.

Soldier 76 Counters and Match-Ups

Any Soldier: 76 player with somewhat decent aim should be able to get Tracer without difficulty. If Tracer is able to close the gap, hit her with Helix Rockets. At medium-range, Tracer does not even stand a chance. Even with her Blink, Tactical Visor will make sure that hit her every single time.

Mei, on the other hand, needs to get in close which is where 76’s Pulse Rifle shines. Soldier: 76 can easily keep Mei at an arm’s length. However, 76’s sprinting gets nullified with Mei’s slow and Ice Wall can deal with his ultimate ability.

Lastly, coming to Reinhardt match-up, although Soldier: 76 can deal pretty decent amount of damage, do note that Reinhardt has about 2000 HP pool which Soldier: 76 simply cannot deplete on his own – he needs assistance in this matter.

Soldier 76 Tips and Strategy

While playing as Soldier: 76, you need to constantly fire and deal damage to opponent heroes. Unlike Widowmaker and Reaper, any time spent not shooting is wasted! Your sprinting is one valuable tool that can be used to quickly get into cover or in order to get into position to aim your Tactical Visor or to provide heal to team using Biotic Field.

Although the hero can deal considerable damage at almost all ranges, he is best played at medium range. At close range, he can easily be countered with heroes such as Reaper or McCree and at long range, he struggles to go against snipers such as Widowmaker, Hanzo, and Bastion. You essentially need to provide fire from the enemy front line.

As mentioned earlier, Soldier: 76 is a decent flanker – due to his sprint ability – but not as good as Tracer or some other flanking heroes in the game. Even if you are trying to flank, you need to make sure that you are not caught off-guard or at least get a couple of eliminations before going down.

Lastly, do note that you are primarily a healer in the game so make sure that you always stick with your team, provide them support, keep them healed up, and use your Helix Rockets to provide crowd control.
