Rocket League on the Nintendo NX is Possible, Says Psyonix
With the Nintendo NX getting more and more information released about it, now Psyonix, the developers of Rocket League, say that there may be a possibility of Rocket League on the Nintendo NX. The game, which is about playing with a giant soccer ball with jet-powered cars, has attracted an enormous following for the crazy stunts and intense gameplay.
Rocket League is also on every major gaming platform out there, except for Nintendo. PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, you name it and it’s out there. Putting Rocket League on the Nintendo NX could open up a whole new market for Psyonix, and with all of the good press Rocket League’s gotten it could be a good seller on the console.
Several weeks ago Psyonix was asked if they would be making a new version of the game for the Playstation 4K, and it seems like they have the same answer then as now. In order to make a port for Rocket League on the Nintendo NX, it would depend on the motivation of the team in question, whether they can fit it into the schedule, and how cost-effective it would be to develop for it.
If the Nintendo NX doesn’t sell well, it would be for a loss on Psyonix’s part. Not to mention that developing a port for another console also takes away development time from developing on the game’s other platforms in favor of working on a version that the general public hasn’t even seen yet.
The question of whether to put Rocket League on the Nintendo NX is part of a set of questions that Psyonix normally asks themselves before they port the game over to another game platform.
That being said, Psyonix has not ruled out the possibility of cross-platform play for Rocket League multiplayer, which would help to bridge all of the different versions of the game together.
