Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim DLC is Free to Play This Weekend

The Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim DLC will be available to play for free this weekend from May 13 to May 15, according to DICE and EA.

If you’ve been wondering what Star Wars Battlefront’s Outer Rim DLC is like, but either don’t have the money to buy it or are skeptical about its quality, you’re in luck this weekend. EA and DICE have put out the DLC pack for free, for this weekend only.

During the free to play weekend for the DLC, players will be able to try out the game’s four new maps and its two heroes: Jabba’s Palace and the Palace Garage maps on Tatooine, and the SoroSubb Refinery and Pipelines maps on Sullust.

The heroes that were added with the pack are Nien Nunb, a famed Sullustan hero of the Rebellion (who also plays a role as a member of the Resistance in The Force Awakens) and Greedo, the famous two-bit bounty hunter that got shot by Han in A New Hope.

The pack also has a new gameplay mode in the Extraction gametype, where the Rebel side must bring a shipment of materials to their transport while the Empire tries to stop them.

Gamers that decide to play the DLC this weekend will not, however, be allowed to access the Hutt Contracts section of the Outer Rim DLC, which would allow you to complete missions for Jabba the Hutt in return for getting new weapons and powerups.

If you want to access the rest of the content and if you want to keep doing it after the weekend ends, you’ll have to buy either the Battlefront Season Pass or the Outer Rim DLC itself. Otherwise, you’ll have to make due with the game’s base weapons.

Star Wars Battlefront’s second DLC, which focuses on Bespin, will be releasing sometime this summer. Star Wars Battlefront is available on the Xbox One and Playstation 4, as well as the PC. The free-to-play weekend will be taking place from Friday, May 13, to Sunday, May 15.
