Dark Souls 3 Patch 1.04.1 Reportedly Freezing PCs
The PC version of Dark Souls 3 seems to be having one problem after another. Even after having a crashing bug related to the first bonfire when it released in the rest of the world, Dark Souls 3 patch 1.04.1 has caused the game to randomly freeze for short periods. Stuttering and frame rate issues have also been reported.
Thankfully, the From Software team has been notified of the problems, and I don’t doubt that they’re already combing the game’s code to see how they can fix the issues.
Problems with the PC ports of Dark Souls games aren’t really anything new: the previous two Souls games that have been on PC also had their own problems, though the ports have gotten better over time.
Dark Souls 3 patch 1.04.1 was supposed to fix a number of problems with the game’s online mode, including sent immediately back to your own world during PVP, being sent back to Firelink Shrine, or, if you had the Dragon Body status, being changed back.
However, those are only some of the onilne issues that the game addresses. A blanket ban that took place several weeks ago punished not only cheating players, but also players that were following the game’s rules. The game has also proven to be susceptible to hackers, such as
piece of shit streamer Malcolm Reynolds.
Reynolds would use a hacked sword to give players he invaded a large amount of souls with each hit, which would trip the game’s anti-cheating software and cause players to be banned from online play. While there hasn’t been any news on any kind of punishment for him, hopefully there will be soon.
If you’re experiencing issues with your own PC copy of Dark Souls 3, you should probably roll the version of your game back to before Dark Souls 3 patch 1.04.1 came out and keep playing it that way until a fix for the freezing issues comes up.
