Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Box Art Revealed
Infinity Ward and Activision put out the official trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare early this morning, and after the cavalcade of violence and explosions and SPAAAAAAAAAAACE, things have now calmed down with the reveal of the different Infinite Warfare box art that will be coming across the regular game and the pre-order editions.
The cover art’s consistent across all three versions, a soldier wearing some sort of space suit walking in front of a spotlight shining from a dropship. We don’t get to see their face, which is hardly new among Call of Duty protagonists, but there’s a slight running gag in that we see less of their face the higher the tier of the game is.
In two of the three different variants, the picture is divided in two as we also see the cover soldier of the remastered edition of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that will be coming out along with the game.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare takes place in the far future, when mankind has started to colonize the solar system after uniting into the United Nations Space Alliance. After a devastating surprise attack by a military organization known as the Settlement Defense Force, the war is taken into space and includes battles there and on other worlds and space stations across the solar system.
The Infinite Warfare box art isn’t as action-packed as Advanced Warfare’s, but it does bring to mind Black Ops 3 with its silhouetted protagonist. Whether we end up seeing what Infinite Warfare’s protagonist looks like, however, depends on how Infinity Ward handles it; all of their games have been bridged not by cutscenes, but by creative loading screens that show the situation while a voiceover conversation plays.
While we have seen in the trailer that there will be one female squadmate and what looks like a giant robot for another, we’ll just have to see if we get a shot of the protagonist’s face at all in the coming months until the game launches in November.
