Gears of War 4 Collector’s Edition Costs $250 and has a J.D. Fenix Statue
You’d best start saving up now if you were hoping to be able to get one of the Gears of War 4 Collector’s Edition bundles. Despite only making a brief appearance today on Amazon.com, the edition’s steep price tag didn’t escape people: The complete package will cost you $250 if you want to buy it.
Gears of War 4 is slated for an October 11 release exclusively on Xbox One, bringing one of the Xbox’s greatest killer apps to the current generation (aside from Gears of War Ultimate Edition, which was just a remake with upped graphics). It will tell the story of J.D. Fenix, the son of the previous trilogy’s main character Marcus Fenix, as he fights to protect the remnants of humanity from the sinister Swarm.
The Gears of War 4 Collector’s Edition has an amount of content that can be worth its high price, though. In addition to the game itself, the bundle comes with a model of J.D. on a motorcycle, a keychain that looks like a COG grenade, a lithograph of J.D.’s motorcycle, three bonus items to use in-game, and the Season Pass for all 24 of the game’s multiplayer maps.
In contrast, the Gears of War 4 Ultimate Edition only has two goodies for you: In addition to the game, you would also only get the Season Pass and a metal box for the game for the much lower price of $99.
Thankfully if having a whole bunch of fancy little knick-knacks aren’t really your speed you can just pre-order the game before it comes out or buy it at launch. However, if you do that you’ll still need to buy the regular season pass, which costs $50, nearly as much as the actual game itself.
Let’s hope that The Coalition, the developers of the game, make everything seem worth it when the game finally comes out in October.
