Even though the Uncharted 4 multiplayer betas have now passed by, that doesn’t mean that Naughty Dog intends to leave anyone looking forward to Uncharted 4 hanging in that area of the game. This information has come in the form of a 30-second teaser trailer that shows off an old mode from Uncharted 2.
The “Plunder” mode is basically a modified version of the “Capture the Flag” mode, where two teams of four players must fight over an idol and bring it back to their chests in order to score points. The mode had previously appeared in the studio’s game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which had come out in 2009.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception also had the Plunder game mode in its multiplayer, and now the mode will be getting a final hurrah with the Uncharted 4 multiplayer component. The mode in Uncharted 4 will be slightly different than other Uncharted games; instead of the five-on-five mode from the previous two games, the mode is now four-on-four.
You can also traverse the map with the idol in Uncharted 4, unlike in Uncharted 2 and 3 where you had to throw the idol (not very good archeology there Nathan).
Uncharted 4 will have a booth at PAX East, which is coming up this weekend. While there will most likely be a line, if you’re patient enough you’ll most likely be able to get your hands on the Plunder mode and be able to play it some. The PAX demo will have three maps available for you to play the game on: Island, Madagascar City, and Rooftops.
And if you can’t get to PAX East to play Uncharted 4 for yourself, the actual game comes out on May 10, so you can play to your heart’s content there. If the game isn’t enough for you, Sony has recently put out a lot of Uncharted-themed merchandise on the Playstation store, and there’s even an Uncharted-themed Playstation 4 that you can buy.
