Bravely Second Base Stats and Stat Ratings of Characters

Bravely Second guide to base stats and stat rating for characters to help you match the stat ratings with the jobs available.

In Bravely Second, there are around 30 Job Asterisks available, but not all of them will be suited to each of your character.

The reason for this is their Base Stats and their Stat Ratings. If you want to get the best out of each possible character, you want to compare their stat ratings with the type of stats the various jobs in the game offer.

To min/max (the art of minimizing weaknesses and maximizing strengths through stats while leveling your character), you should choose jobs that best suit them.

Of course, in order to do so, you’ll need to learn a thing or two about the Base Stats in the game, as well as the Stat Ratings of the different base stats for each playable character. This guide covers all that.

Base Stats

Hit Points (HP) – Maximum total Hit Points. Determines how much damage you can take.

Magic Points (MP) – Maximum total Magic Points. Determines how much magic you can cast.

Strength (STR) – Determines physical attack power.

Vitality (VIT) – Determines physical defense ability.

Intelligence (INT) – Determines magic attack power and chance to inflict status ailments.

Mind (MND) – Magic Endurance. Determines magic defense, healing magic potency, and chance to avoid status ailments.

Dexterity (DEX) – Determines physical attack accuracy and Brave Attack rate.

Agility (AGI) – Determines physical attack evasion, hit count, speed, and first strike rate.

Stat Rating
Stat Rating is basically the determination of a character’s affinity for a given stat. The affinity for a stat is based on a rank, and determines how effective a character will be in that given stat.

While choosing a job for your character, it is important that you keep in mind the stat rating for their base stats in order to maximize their input.

For example, for Yew Geneolgia, you don’t want to be assigning a Job Asterisk that is Strength-focused, as Yew has C rating in Strength. Instead, assigning a Dexterity-focused Job is far better, as Yew has an S rating in that.

Stat Rating is ranked from C till S. The order is S > A > B > C. Rating determines how good a stat’s output will be for a specific character, based on the rankings.
