A Heroes of Newerth mobile version could be coming to smartphones and tablets soon if a recent Android survey is anything to go by.
Popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) was originally released in May 2010 as a paid title, but was re-released over a year later with a free-to-play model but has since been left in the shadows by other games of a similar genre such as League of Legends. The game still pulls in plenty of players though and a port to Android and (presumably) iOS may bring extra fans on board.
The picture below is a screenshot taken by a fan that was requested to take the survey on Android through Google’s Opinion Rewards initiative:
Other names suggested by the survey for this upcoming Heroes of Newberth mobile game include ‘Reborn of Champions’, ‘Fable of the Ancients’ and Ascent of Champions’. There is no real information about what the game will actually include, but it’s safe to say that we are looking at a MOBA version on smaller screens.
MOBAs have become an incredibly profitable commodity so Heroes of Newerth developers Frostburn Studios, who took over from original creators S2 last year, will be looking to expand their reach and bring in further revenue despite using the free-to-play model.
With 127 playable heroes on offer, with six years of release behind it there is plenty of reasons to jump into Heroes of Newerth should this switch to mobile play become a reality.
This survey suggests that the new Heroes of Newerth mobile title is already well into development, with just the name one of the only factors still yet to be decided. We’re still yet to hear anything official from Frostburn Studios however about whether we will be pitting the Legion and the Hellbourne against each other on our cellphones and tablets.
