Call of Duty 2016 Has Space Combat in “Far Future” Sci-Fi Setting [RUMOR]

Since it is confirmed that Infinity Ward is developing Call of Duty 2016, all the first person shooter fans are looking up to E3 for the official reveal. While you wait for that, we might have gotten our hands on yet another leak about the game’s setting.

Call of Duty 2016 Setting Leaked?

According to known industry insider Shinobi, the next Call of Duty is going to be set very far into the future. So much so that he says it will make “Black Ops 3 feel like the stone age. Metaphorically of course.”

When asked if it will be something like Battlefield 2142, he said that Call of Duty 2016 will be set in “very far future” with even space combat. Sort of a “full on sci-fi” release.

This comes at the heels of recent rumors suggesting that the game is going to a Modern Warfare title by Infinity Ward which will come packing Modern Warfare 1 and Modern Warfare 2 inside the package as preorder bonuses.

As far as the track record of the alleged leaker is concerned he is the same person who leaked wall running, robotic limbs and cybernetics for Call of Duty Black Ops 3, as well as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

In the past we have had a Call of Duty Bloodlines leak as well as another one for Call of Duty Ghosts 2 which we debunked as fake. However, we haven’t had word that the next game was going to be set so far down into the timeline.

Currently, we are all shooting in the dark here, but there are some things that the past news have let us know. Firstly, it is expected that the game engine Infinity Ward will use is going to have better engine memory optimization, geometry and texture pipelines and also that Sony will present Call of Duty 20016 because Activision is skipping E3.

Thanks, NeoGAF.
