It seems like those who are still playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on PS3 aren’t going to be left out of some fresh action, as it’s been announced that the Awakening Map Pack for the game will be coming out on the previous generation console from Sony.
The announcement was made today, with the Awakening Map arriving on April 5 for Black Ops 3 on PS3. The pack comes with four new multiplayer maps and the first chapter of Black Ops 3’s zombies campaign.
The maps being introduced in Black Ops 3 on PS3 are Skyjacked, Splash, Gauntlet, and Rise. These DLC maps will be accompanied by the first part of the zombie campaign, called Der Eisendrache. Der Eisendrach is set in an Austrian castle during World War II, and features many recognizable characters of from Call of Duty: World at War, the first Call of Duty title to feature the highly popular Zombie mode.
Last E3, Sony and Activision struck a deal that would allow them to have timed exclusivity on their consoles. This is perhaps the main reason why Black Ops 3 on PS3 is getting the Awakening DLC while there has been no concrete news of it arriving anytime for the Xbox 360 version of the game.
It is also suggested that Activision may outright skip the E3 event this year and let Sony present the next Call of Duty title during the conference.
The Awakening DLC for Black Ops 3 on PS3 will be available at the cost of $14.99. The PS3 however will not get the Season Pass, as the pack is going to act as an isolated ‘expansion’ of the game’s multiplayer. If you purchase the DLC, you will also receive a static theme based on the Awakening maps for your PS3.
