Call of Duty fans looking for a Black Ops 3 Nuketown map can finally rest easy, now that the newest iteration of the suburban nuclear testing site is finally available for them.
Previously, “Nuk3town” as it was known was only available to Black Ops 3 players that had pre-ordered the game, leaving everyone else out in the dust.
The Black Ops 3 Nuketown map will be available for three of Black Ops III’s platforms, which includes PC, Playstation 4, and the Xbox One. The map will not, however, be available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms.
Nuk3town takes place in the game’s year of 2065, in contrast to the original Nuketown and its Black Ops II version Nuketown 2025. The map also takes place within a holographic simulation, with the map’s signature busses dissolving into data. However, it still includes its characteristic explosion in the form of an energy pulse that rips the map apart (presumably on the victory of one team or another).
The Black Ops III Nuketown map has been redone to reward the momentum-based gameplay of Black Ops 3, allowing players to take advantage of the new movement system that Black Ops III allows.
Nuk3town will be available for free for everyone to download today. Also available for people that didn’t pre-order Black Ops 3 will be a Nuk3town Personalization Pack (also available for free) that will include a special number of Nuk3town cosmetics including weapons, reticules, and a calling card.
In celebration of the release, Activision will be releasing a 24/7 playlist available for the next week. The map will also be introduced into other playlists in various game modes.
So, if you’re one of those Call of Duty Black Ops 3 players that didn’t pre-order the game but have been waiting to play Nuk3town, now’s your chance to do it. Go out there and wreck some stuff!
