Fortnite was announced almost 4 years ago at the Video Game Awards 2011 but for a while things have been really quite. We were starting to wonder if Epic Games has moved on so we may not see Fortnite again. However, it looks like that won’t be the case and thankfully so.
Fortnite in Development but Focus Shifted
According to Epic Games, Fortnite is still a huge priority and it is well under development but things have changed a bit. The game will release but for the time being, Paragon comes first for Epic Games.
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney explained:
We shifted a lot of resources over to Paragon to get that out in an awesome state. We figure we should start with one major successful launch and do one at a time. Fortnite will be next.
Fortnite is moving ahead full-speed. It’s a game with awesome and complex RPG type systems, and a really interesting meta game around it. It’s a game that takes time to get right. It remains a huge priority for Epic, and expect more news to come out over time
Paragon is a MOBA similar to League of Legends and DOTA 2. However, just like Ubisoft’s For Honor this game is using third person view rather than the traditional top down angle used by League of Legends and DOTA 2.
Meanwhile, Fortnite was described a “Minecraft meets Left 4 Dead.”
It is safe to say we won’t seeing much of Fortnite until Paragon comes out on PC and PS4.
