Blizzard Entertainment is sure that they want to build massively on the Overwatch IP, their plans include not only the game but also animated shorts, comic shorts and First Strike, the graphic novel based on the universe.
Recently, the developers decided to share with us what exactly we can expect from them in terms of all these.
First shown at BlizzCon 2015, their animated shorts are going to use the next two months to get you acquainted with the universe by illuminating “the stories behind some of our most iconic heroes and reveal more about the future they’re fighting for.”
While these are scheduled to start later this month, here’s a sneak peak.
Then there are the digital comics based on Overwatch, these free comic shorts are going to lead your way to the game’s release on May 24.
Our first six-issue series of “comic shorts” will focus on different heroes, such as the deranged criminal duo of Roadhog and Junkrat, as well as Overwatch’s knight from a bygone era, Reinhardt.
The comic shorts start next month.
Last but not the least is the graphic novel called First Strike. Ludo Lullabi has done the art while Micky Neilson has written the novel set in the Omnic Crisis era and “explores the early days of Overwatch, the elite international strike team that was assembled to save humanity. You’ll learn more about the origins of some of its founding members like Soldier: 76, Torbjörn, Reaper, and Reinhardt, years before the events of the game!”
Are you ready to dive into the game and non-game content that Blizzard Entertainment has planned for you in the coming months?
