Game Informer’s next cover might be about Gears of War 4, if the hint given on the magazine’s Twitter page is accurate. Ever since the game was revealed at last year’s E3, details have been remarkably slim on Gears of War 4, which is now being developed by gaming studio The Coalition, instead of Epic Games.
The cover, which will be for the magazine’s April issue, for now is just pixellated, but numerous colors shown within it leave people guessing that it might be Gears of War.
Many of the pixels are colored blue and grey, the colors of Gear armor from the Gears of War series. The time might also be right for Game Informer’s next cover to be Gears of War, as the game is projected to release this year around the holidays.
It may also be because of the recent release of Gears of War’s Ultimate Edition re-release, which released Gears of War 1, 2, 3, and Judgment for the Xbox One.
The Gears games served to be one of the Xbox 360’s killer apps, and even Judgment, which was received less favorably as opposed to the other games that it served as a prequel to, sold over a million copies.
The series’ success even gave rise to an expanded universe in the form of comics and full books that told stories of what happened between games.
However, at the same time, the cover could also not be Gears of War. It’s only March, after all, and if Gears of War comes out near the end of the year, there are plenty of other high-profile releases to be on Game Informer’s next cover.
Hitman, No Man’s Sky, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Uncharted 4, and other games could also be likely, and will release sooner than Gears 4 would. However, since the cover will be revealed tomorrow, at least we don’t have long to wait.
