Yesterday the No Man’s Sky price apparently was leaked by PlayStation. This price along with the release date have now been confirmed.
Today PlayStation, along with services like Steam have revealed that pre-orders have now begun, and the game will cost $59.99 (USD) and will release June 21. Which may feel a lot for what is seen as an “Indie game” but is it? I would argue not, but my view may not be a popular one.
The fact is just because a smaller company like Hello Games has put together a game, this doesn’t mean that it should be sold at a cheaper price. With the game apparently being huge in scope, why should it be sold cheap?
As one of the big releases of 2016 we may not know much about what it will offer, but by the time it finally reaches our console/computer we’ll probably have seen all we need to help us decide if we want to buy it.
For those who are interested in special editions, iam8bit.com are showing off the Explorer’s Edition which costs $149.99 and comes with a replica of the ship used in the game. This is a PC release and will be limited to 10,000. The Explorer’s Edition will include:
- PC game
- Hand-painted, Cast Metal Ship Replica (1:35 scale) w/ decals for customization
- Hard-enamel Traveller Pin
- Diorama Display Backdrop
- Mystery Item (revealed @ launch)
- A Rad Box
We are not sure what the “Rad Box” is but we assume that is the packaging, which does look colourful. Not sure how rad it is though, guess we’ll have to wait and see.
