There is no doubt that both PS4 and Xbox One are on their way to becoming the best selling consoles in history, if they keep their sales momentum going the way it is.
According to EA, combined PS4 and Xbox One sales now stand at 60 to 80 million. I don’t think they are anywhere near 80 million but 60 seems like the right number. By now, PS4 Should be close to 40 million while Xbox One is estimated to be well over 20 million. So the combined number should be somewhere around 60 million.
The number was shared by EA during Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference. EA also talked about what the future holds for VR.
EA CFO said that VR is going to be great as there are many applications for it including gaming. However, it may take time before we see substantial growth of VR market. EA is ready for the rise of VR and we will be seeing VR content coming out of EA in the coming years.
EA claims that its content will help people understand the power of VR.
VR devices are getting closer to release. We will soon see Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, HTC VIVE and others hitting store shelves this year.
Microsoft doesn’t seem interested in VR and gunning to AR technology. Sony on the other hand is betting its cards on VR. Sony is yet to reveal a price for its device but we are expecting these details in VR centric event this Month.
