Along with the comments about Assassin’s Creed release schedule Ubisoft teased a new AAA game. A multiplayer-centric game, but with also elements to keep single-player gamers invested.
During the Ubisoft earnings briefing today, Ubisoft’s chief executive Yves Guillemot made some comments on what to expect from this multiplayer-centric game. Though didn’t want to reveal too much:
“It is multiplayer-centric, so clearly, it is following the path of For Honor, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six,” he said. “So it is going to be strongly multiplayer-centric, with a strong solo side also.”
These comments came after questions from an analyst about what Ubisoft are working on at the moment. It makes sense that a new AAA would cause some interest, but Ubisoft appear to want to keep it secret for now.
With the success of Rainbow Six Siege, and the fact it was name checked, it can be speculated that we can expect a game that is focused on using what proved to be so popular with the latest release. As we’ve not seen much from For Honor yet, we can’t really be sure just how popular that one will end up being.
Thankfully for the single-player game fans, there will be something in the game for them. If it is being described as “multiplayer-centric” though, don’t hope for much. Just look at Street Fighter V for an example of what a multiplayer game can offer to the lone players.
