Doom Release Date, Pre-Order Incentives and Collector’s Edition Revealed
Earlier we saw some hints as to what the Doom boxart will look like. While we don’t have that, we now have a release date, a new campaign trailer and details on the Collector’s Edition for the game as well as pre-order incentives.
Bethesda have revealed that Doom will be released May 13, 2016. This will be a worldwide release so hopefully everybody will have the chance to play it at the same time. This will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
The collector’s edition will include a copy of the game which comes in a metal case and a 12-inch-tall statue of the Revenant which will be made in high-quality PVC. The Revenant which is modelled from the 3D files from the game is described as:
“The Revenant, which was modeled using actual in-game 3D files, stands sentry on a base-lit turbine that slowly rotates internally, casting an eerily flickering glow onto the nightmarish glory of this iconic DOOM demon.”
The collector’s edition of Doom will cost $119.99(USD), and £99.99(GBP) and is available now for pre-order. Those who decide to pre-order the game (both collector’s and standard edition) will receive the Demon Multiplayer Pack. This includes items for use in multiplayer game which includes a demon armour set which comes with three skin variants, six metallic paint colours, and three ID logo patterns for use with weapons and armour. Along with these items six Hack modules will also be included to give you an added edge in multiplayer matches.
In the trailer above you get a taste of the campaign mode which is suitably gory. Most importantly there is an improvement in the colouring of the creatures which give them a more Doom-like feel. This should put most fans worries at ease who weren’t sure of the game’s new look.
