Game confirmed by Microsoft through Xbox Store; screenshots, first details including Blaster Battles and Multi-Builds shared alongside release date.
Only a couple of hours ago we reported on an email that has been sent out by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in which they have revealed that they will make a “massive”game announcement today relating to “two of the world’s most popular entertainment brands.” At that time a couple of ideas came to our minds and one of them was a LEGO Star Wars Episode 7.
Now, it appears that the game announcement might actually be related to The Force Awakens. A listing on the Italian version of Amazon’s website has revealed that there indeed is a game based on the Episode 7 which will be released to all the major platforms. Here are some details that accompanied the Amazon listing:
- The Force is strong here … The best-selling LEGO video game franchise returns with a journey full of action and humor based on the hit Star Wars movie
- In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, players relive the action of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie, told through the intelligent and witty LEGO lens.
- LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens also introduces Multi-buildings and Battles with the LEGO gaming universe Blaster.
This fits the bill perfectly because the email also mentioned two popular entertainment brands, and in this case we have got LEGO itself as well as Star Wars.
In usual circumstances, we would regard this as one of the many unofficial listings that come and go with or without having any credibility, but this is different. If you check out the page where the game is supposed to be listed now, you will see that Amazon has taken it down.
This strengthens the rumor even more because it could be that the listing was supposed to go up later today i.e. after the game got revealed but someone jumped the gun on this one.
However, we have kept a screenshot of LEGO Star Wars Episode 7 for you – it is for the Nintendo Wii U version of the game but the rest of the platforms included Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, New Nintendo 3DS and PC.
The official announcement is supposed to come at 6:00 AM PST, February 2.
