Minecraft may be enjoying its immense popularity with its console version and portable releases, but let’s not forget that it started off as a desktop game. The sandbox title is still highly enjoyed on PCs, and its sales manage to reflect that.

Today Minecraft managed to surpass 22 million sales on PC, showing that even in the storm of console dominance, it is still going strong on the platform where it all started.

In spite of the critique that the game from Mojang had lost its edge a bit, it has still managed to achieve this remarkable feat. Just in the last 24 hours, over 12,000 copies have been sold.

The consoles have certainly outsold the original version when looked at overall, but none of the single consoles has managed to beat these impressive number of sales on the PC.

And it’s not just over yet – Minecraft has still plenty more to offer as well, as the 1.9 update is nearing release, and is expected to bring all sorts of new things to add to its incredible depth.

Currently, there is no set window for the 1.9 update, which will be the first release of the Combat Update. However, after constant delays since last October, it is expected to be released within the first half of 2016.
